Update about Josh

Hello everyone. I am doing great and i had a good week this last week. I hope that yall are having a great Christmas season so far and are enjoying the weather where ever you are. Here is my last week.

Monday- We played some b-ball and recorded us singing some Christmas Hymns and of course some of you have seen it. But it was a blast doing that. Then we went and taught one of our new investigators TJ. He is a great guy and he is planning on playing for the Gators after he is done with high school.

Tuesday- we went and saw some L.A.s and tried to see some other people but they weren't home but we still had a great time going out and serving the Lord as always.

Wednesday- We had District meeting as always and it was good. I learned a lot from it. Then we went and had lunch at a place called Moes. It is like a Cafe Rio but it is nowhere close to as good as Cafe Rio is. Then we went and biked around all day and tried to see some people but they weren't home and some of the appointments that we had cancelled but we still had a good time.

Thursday- We planned out for our next week and then we tried to go and see some people but they weren't home and to be honest i cant remember anything else that happened this day.

Friday- Just went out and worked the whole day and tried to see the people that we had planned to go see.

Saturday- we just kind of took it easy because I wasn't feeling good at all and so we just took it easy. We still went out and worked the whole day just didn't do anything crazy.

Sunday- We went to Church of course and then we came home and cooked what I called Throwup, haha. Now it wasn't throw up just looked like throw up. It was eggs, ham, cheese, hash browns, and french toast. It was amazingly good and I would love to have it again but the rest of the elders in our place don't want to haha. I ended up have 2 full bowls of it while everyone else only had one haha. Then we went out and tried to see some people that we had planned to go and see but they weren't home or were just busy and couldn't meet.

Yesterday- We had our Mission Christmas Party at Fort Desoto Beach and it was a blast!! I will be sending some pics after this email to all of yall. We did a lot of fun stuff like played some football on the beach and some other fun stuff. It was amazing. I love the beach.

And just another thing just so yall know, we have a baptism on Jan 18!!! Her name is Tammy Klipple and they just moved down about a couple of weeks ago or so and the rest of her family are members. Her husband joined back in 09 and 2 of her kids were baptized back in Jan of this year. So when we invited her to be baptized on Jan 18 she was so excited because that is 1 day away from her 2 kids baptism so that is freaking awesome that that will be happening for her.

New update and photos

Hello Everyone!!!!

My week was great. There will be pics at the end of this email. Here is how my week was this last week.

Tuesday- We went and hit the mountain bike trails and IT WAS A BLAST!!!!!!!!!! I had so much fun and i lead the way since no one else wanted to and so i did. There were some crazy trails but i had a blast and we are thinking of doing it again next week. Now just biking around seems boring lol. But after we went and biked to see if some people were home but they weren't.

Wednesday- We had district meeting and it was good. I learned a lot of course and just had a great time. Then we got the car and we went to some of the appointments we had that day and when we got there they weren't home and so we just ended up just doing some L.A. work.

Thursday- We had Interviews. It was good and President Cusick told me that I am doing great and to keep up thee great work. I was so happy to hear that and he gave me some pointers to help me continue on the right path so that has helped so far. Then we had some more appointments cancel on us and ended up doing some more L.A. work and we are pretty much done with it so we are running out of things to do and pretty much all of our gators are not progressing at all since we can never meet up with them.

Friday- We went and saw some appointments and we had some great lessons with them and the spirit was strong on some of them. But of course I felt the spirit with all of our lessons.  Then just finished the L.A. work that we had and that was pretty much it.

Saturday- We went and had a lesson with the Bell family. They are doing great and we taught them Lesson 2 and it was great. Then we went and had Lunch with a member at a pizza place and it was good but not as good as Little Caesars. Then went and tried to see some more people before we went to dinner. Our dinner was SO GOOD!!!! If you guys remember me talking about Bro Livezey from my last area, well he took me and my comp out to dinner and we went to TEXAS ROADHOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!! IT WAS SO GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then we went and tried so see a family that we had a appt with but they weren't home at the time the appointment was.

Yesterday- We had church of course and we went and had some lessons with the active members and we taught them about Hastening the Work. After we showed them some videos we read a General Conference talk that is called " Hastening the Lords Game Plan." We both felt it went hand and hand with Hastening the work of salvation. Then we went and had dinner with a part member family and it was really good. Then we read from the Book of Mormon with them and read 3 Nephi 11. They seemed to like it and we got them to commit them to pray as a family.

Today- P-day and we are just planning to play some b-ball and some other things.

Now for the part you have all been waiting for.............................................................. are you sure your ready? ................................... PICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Josh's new address

Josh new address is:

1424 Plantation circle #1506 Plant City, FL 33566
Here is the latest update from Josh.

I am doing great. This last couple weeks have been fun. Here is my last week.

Monday- P-day of course but there is like NOTHING to do here in plant city. We tried to go bowling but it isn't open on Monday. :( So we just stayed at our apartment as a district and played Monopoly. It was fun but it got boring really quick.
Tuesday- we went and tried to see some people but they weren't home :(  We went to the Borders family and had dinner with them. It was good we had Parmesan chicken. It was good. Then right after we ate we worked out. Man it was a good workout. I was just happy that the food i just ate didn't come back up if you know what i mean. Then we watched a general conference talk about peace in the home. It was a great talk and we had a great time.
Wednesday- this day was AWESOME!!! We had Zone Conference. Guess who we had come and speak to us?...... We had Elder Teh from the 70. Man was that great. I learned a lot and we of course got to shake his hand and it was awesome. Then we went with a member who name is Bro Lynn Livezey, and we went to a church of God and we are trying to become friends with their church with ours if that makes any sense. But so we went there and lets just say it was ok. There was some true things spoken but the rest was out of this world.
Thursday- we did weekly planning of course as we do every Thursday in this mission. Then we just biked around a lot trying to see some people but again most of them weren't home which always sucks. So this day we just did a lot of biking as I said before and it took most of our time that day.
Friday- we went on exchanges and I went to the other area. This ward has 1 set of English and 1 set Espanol. So i went to Spanish land and had a great time. I could understand some of what was being said and i guess i will let you all on a little secret. I have been learning Spanish for the last couple of weeks and I am thinking about telling my mission president that if he needs someone to go Spanish that i will go. Crazy right. I already know what you are going to say..."wait what, that doesn't sound like Josh at all." but hey i have had a change of heart. So i was given some books that they give in the MTC to learn Spanish and i can almost say a prayer in Spanish but not yet.
Saturday- We went to Bro Livezey's farm and helped one of his friends sand bro livezey's parents car. Of course we had to do some tearing it about. I of course helped with that part. Me and Bro livezey took apart a Buick. It was nice that all the Bolts were a 10mm so that made it easy. Then when we got that all done we started to sand down the car and it took about 3 hours or so but we got it done and it was a great time. i miss working on cars. Bro. livezey told me that me and him really connect and i told him if he needs help with his car to let me know and i will go and help. He is an engineer and so he knows a lot about cars and we have a blast together.
Sunday- it was fast Sunday since next Sunday is conference. It was a great testimony meeting. The ward is great here and they are a great ward. Then we went and had dinner with bro livezey and we had a great time. then we went and saw another family that aren't members but yet he believes that you don't have to be baptized with the proper authority to be in the celestial kingdom. So we have some work to do and we could use some prayers to know what we have to do to help him.

Today- P-day and we are planning to do nothing again because there is like nothing to do here.

Tuesday, August 6, 2013

Josh got to perform his first Baptism on July 28 2013.

Josh also got to sing the national anthem for Mormon night at the Tampa Bay Rays game.   He was super excited about that.

Here is an update from a couple weeks ago.

Monday- Pday and we went and had a lesson with the Lawrence family. We just answered questions that they had.
Tuesday- we meet our new mission president. His name is President Cusick. He is great.
Wednesday- had and zone meeting with the whole zone and it was great. then we went and saw some more gators to set up appointment with them.
Thursday- we planned out for the next week and we went and saw the Lawrence family again and answered more questions that they had.
Friday- we went had saw some potential gators and set up an appointment with them.
Saturday- had transfer calls and of course i stayed and my new comp is elder Flinders.
Sunday- had a great fast and testimony meeting. Then we went and tried to see the people that werent at church.
This week was great.
Monday- Pday as normal and then we went and had dinner with the bishop here. that was really great. we had outback steak house. YUM!!!!!!!
Tuesday- Transfers. i spent most of the day with the zone leaders until my new comp came here. Then we went and did a awesome peace and blessing with a less active member.
Wednesday- my comp is the D.L. and so he had to go to a meeting that all D.L. have to go to and so we just stayed here and went and tried  to see some people but they weren't home. then we went and gave another awesome peace and blessing. That was great.
Thursday- we had district meeting and that was great. Then we went had got 2 new gators!!!!!! their names are Becky and sandy. Then we went and saw some L.A. but they weren't home.
Friday-we went and saw Becky and had a great lesson with her. We are planning to set a date with her this week. She is so ready. Then had dinner with the Heiser family. they are great and we are teaching one of their grand kids. Eddie. Set for baptism on july 28
Saturday- we just went around and saw people on the ward roster that we didnt know so that is all we did that day.
Sunday- we had a great day at church and we had Becky there and she loved it. Then we took her to a baptism that the gulf port sisters were having and she loved that to. Then we went and did blitz the the largo spanish elders. We were tracking in their area and trying to get them new gators but instead we found 2 more new gators for us and we have 4 new gators to start teaching this week super excited.
Today- Pday. and we are having dinner with a FBI Agent. Agent Draper. The Draper family. Super excited with that. Then we are teaching the Lawrence family tonight and are reading the Book of Mormon with them.

This past week was good. Last Monday, didn't do to much for p-day. We started to teach the girl from Germany  Her name is Tabitha. We had a great lesson with her. She felt the spirit for sure that lesson. Tuesday, we had a great day. We went and saw some referrals but most of them weren't home. Wednesday, we had a great D.M. the object lesson didn't turn out as good as me and my comp thought it would but then we made it work. Then we had a meeting with our ward mission leader and the ward missionaries. They are getting trained on teaching the lessons for PMG. That went well. Thursday, we went and saw one of our gators. We went and saw Ariel. She is doing great and still wants to get married and then get baptized. Then we went and saw a son of a active member who is in the hospital. He is doing great and he likes having us coming over and seeing him. Friday, went and tried to see some more referrals but they weren't home. We saw a L.A. Bro Wagner. He is doing great. He loves to have us over and we always have a great time there. Saturday, we helped a member move. That took longer than we thought but we got it done. Then we went and saw some more L.A. but cant remember who we did see. Yesterday, we had a great sacrament meeting. Had a farewell talk. His name is Taz Smith. He will be going to the Denver, Colorado North Mission. He leaves for Utah May 10 and reports the the MTC on May 15. So he gave a great talk. Then we went and said hi to Ariel and Cory. They are doing great and they are saying they are going to come to church this coming Sunday which is great. Then we had a lesson with Tabitha. That was a great lesson. Today, at 10:30 we will be helping a member replace lower ball joints. More like I will since my comp doesn't know anything about that so its more like I am helping him. At least i still get to use my knowledge of working on cars so that is always fun.

Hi Family and Friends,

This past week has been great. We got our Transfer call on Saturday and...... I am staying here in Hudson and Elder Grimmett is going to Lake Hamilton. Its weird because we are just switching Companions with them. Also Elder Grimmett will be serving with my Companion that I had in the MTC. Crazy. And I will be serving with his Companion.(my MTC companion's companion if that makes sense) So it will be Elder Simonson and Elder Hargan. My new companion will be the new District Leader and Elder Grimmett will be the District Leader down there. We will be exchanging companions tomorrow.

Anyways, this week was great. Last week, we went and hung out with our D.L. and our Z.L.'s. We went to home depot and bought some PVC Pipe and cut them to 3 feet long and then went to Wal-Mart and bought some nerf bullets and went to the park that we go to and had a dart war with the PVC Pipe and the nerf darts. That was a Blast!!!!! Things we do on a mission ;) Tuesday, we went and saw some gators and had some great lessons with them. Wednesday, we had a great District Meeting. Very Spiritual. Then taught some gators and had spiritual lessons with them. Then played some Basketball. Always fun!!! Thursday, we went and saw one of our R.C. Andromeda. She is doing great and she and her sister are moving to a new place still within our area so that is good. Then saw some more gators and then we had Splits that night. That went well. I went with our Ward Mission Leader. His name is Rocky Martinez. He is a Nice guy and he is also a Broncos fan!!!! Then Friday, did the same thing we do every day, taught some more gators and saw some inactives. Saturday, we got the call to see who is going or who is staying. I'm staying like I said earlier. Then the rest of the day we went around and saw some people that Elder Grimmett wanted to say good bye to and take pictures with them. Yesterday, we had a very spiritual fast and testimony meeting. Then we went and had dinner with one of the members of the bishopric. The Allens. They are a nice family. Then went and saw our other R.C. Evan. He is doing great as well and then after we had our lesson with him, went back to the church and saw the broadcast of the CES Fireside that was on last night. Elder David A. Bednar talked in that fireside. I learned a lot from him and am applying what I learned. Then Today, we are going to our D.L. and Z.L.'s church building in Palm Harbor and having a Zone Get together to have our last day with one of our Z.L.'s Elder Parady. He is leaving to go home this Wednesday so that is why we are having a zone get together and we will be having lunch there and will play some basketball.

This weeks Scripture is 1 Nephi 3:7.

Hope everything is going well for all of you guys and hope to hear from some of you sometime in the future.

Love you all and be safe and may the Lord bless all of you.

Elder Josh Simonson

P.S. one thing we do as missionaries is we decorate our Missionary planner with pictures and this is what mine looks like for this transfer

Josh address in Florida

For those who want Josh address here it is:

Elder Josh Simonson
13303 Whaler Dr.
Hudson Fl 34667

His Email address is:

joshua.simonson@myldsmail.net

This week was great. We had Exchanges last week. We did exchanges with our District leaders. Our District leader is training a Greeny.(Greenys are brand new missionaries from the MTC, that is what they call them.) So, I  stayed up here and Elder Grimmett went down there. I served with Elder Chamberlain. He is a cousin to Seth Clark. I don't know if you remember on Facebook that Seths dad was talking to him about me. But exchanges went from Monday night to Wednesday morning before Z.C. Tuesday we just went and saw some Gators and had dinner with a member. That was really good. Then on Wednesday, Zone Conference!!!! That was a great time. We did a lot of role plays as investigators and Missionaries. That has helped me become more comfortable with them. Then we played Basketball like we do every Wednesday night. On Thursday we didn't do to much because it was Valentines Day. Then Friday we just taught some Gators. On Saturday we went to help our D.L. help a member move and then we went and played Football with our whole zone. That was a blast!!!! I got some amazing catches and scored some of our points. Then we had a lesson with Jon. He is progressing slowly but he is almost ready to be baptized!!!! He just has to overcome some challenges and then he can be Baptized!!!! Yesterday we had church of course. That is always a great time to reflect on the Savior. After church we just went and saw some people that weren't there yesterday and said hi. The scripture for this week is D&C 100:5-8

Elder Simonson
Hi Family and Friends,

This past week has been great. On Monday last week, me and my companion hung out with our District and Zone Leaders and went to a park and had fun there. Then, on Tuesday, we just went and saw some gators. Wednesday, we had zone meeting. that went good. learned a lot from that. On Thursday we went and saw some L.A. and then went on splits like we do every Thursday night. Then Friday, we had the Baptismal Interview for Evan. That was awesome!!! Then we saw some gators and some L.A. On Saturday Evan got baptized in his pool. I will have pictures at the end of this email. After he got baptized we confirmed him at his house because he wasn't going to be at church that following Sunday which was yesterday, so we confirmed him there at his house with the Bishop. Yesterday we had church. Church was very spiritual as always. Then we had dinner with the Ernest II family. That was great. Today, we might be going to hang out with our zone but not to sure. But, this coming Wednesday, will be my first Zone Conference!!!!! Super Excited. The Scripture for this week is 3 Nephi 18:21. I will also attach some pictures of what my scriptures used to be like and what they look like now.  You will see a difference of how they use to be and what i am doing now.

Love you all so much,

Elder Simonson

This past week has been great. I did get a haircut on Wednesday. I will tell you that it is a lot better seeing short hair instead of long hair lol. Last week I had a great p-day. Why you may ask?  Because I went to the BEACH!!!!! Saw the Gulf Coast, Fished off the Pier. I will include pictures at the end of this email.

Other than that, things have been the same. Seeing people and teaching people. This Saturday, we will be having a Baptism. His name is Evan Nagy. He is a unbaptized member so we have to teach him the 4 lessons and we will be finishing the 4 lessons early this week and then having him baptized this Saturday by his dad. Even though he isn't a gator, Its still good to have someone be baptized.

This weeks scripture is D&C 121:45.

Last night was awesome. We had a fireside about the addiction of bad things on the internet. But one of the things that made it easy to understand was that he related it to a battleship called the U.S.S Nevada. Now the U.S.S. Nevada was attacked when pearl harbor got attacked. So it had some holes in the ship. It was able to make it to a repair place and the holes were covered and it was able to go and be in many other fights.  Even though it had holes it was made whole and able to keep on fighting for so many years after. What does that have to do with this sin that is very addictive? We are all like the U.S.S. Nevada. When we get attacked from Satan, and give into that temptation, we receive the holes. We must go to the lord and ask for his help to repair the holes. Then, if we get over that addiction, and don't give into that temptation again, we will become the Strongest person to fight against enemies of God. We will be able to fight for so many years after and will always be the leader of the pack. So that is how it relates.

I hope that all of you will become as the U.S.S. Nevada.

Love yall so much,

Elder Simonson

Hey Family and Friends,

This past week as been the Best week so far. We have had a lot of success. We have 2 gators(we call investigators "gators" because we are in Florida LOL) that have goal dates to be baptized! The first one is Curtis. He is doing great and is very interested in the Church. His goal date to be baptized is Feb. 16. Then we found a family that has one of their kids that is an unbaptized member. His name is Evan Nagy. We started teaching him yesterday and we are most likely going to baptize him on Feb 9 or Feb.10! So there is 2 so far with a baptismal date.

We have other gators that are really progressing.  Olivia, who really wants to be baptized, Brian, he also wants to be baptized, Jonathon Allen, he also wants to be baptized, and many others. Those are just some of the main ones we are really working with.

Here is a very funny story that happened to us on Tuesday. We were driving to a Dinner appointment which lives on a dirt road( we drive on dirt roads A LOT just FYI) so we turned onto this dirt road called Robin Hood. All was great UNTIL it turned from DIRT to SAND!!!!!!!! So we have a car NOT a truck. So what happened? WE GOT STUCK!!!!  We were not thinking to much about it until it happened. So we were digging the car out for about 45 minutes or so. GOT NOWHERE!!!!! So we weren't to far from the members house that we were going to dinner for, so we called them to come help us get unstuck. Their son came with a 4-wheeler and a rope. For the first couple of times there was no success because the front end of the 4-wheeler wanted to pop wheelies and almost flip over. So it took 3 of us to hold the front end of the 4-wheeler down and then we FINALLY got it out. ;)

Anyways, I had my first Exchanges on Wednesday. That was fun. We did exchanges with our district leaders. So, my companion stayed here in Hudson and I went to the Palm Harbor A area. I put a picture of me and the elder I served with on the exchange at the end of this email. But, guess what was going on with them? They have a all car area too. BUT, their car was in the shop getting the bumper fixed. SO, we had to RIDE BIKES!!!!! That was a great Missionary Experience. I felt more like a Missionary that day. The one thing that sucked was the the seat was SO uncomfortable. But it was a great experience.

So, that is a brief overview of what happened this past week.

I love and miss all you guys so much and cant wait to see all your faces again after 23 Months and 1 week............. Well............ less than that because of the age change they cut the time at the MTC to 2 weeks now. So, Transfers will be every 5 weeks instead of 6 weeks now. So, i will leaving my mission a week early!!! LOL ;)

Love your best family member and best friend ever,

Elder Josh SImonson

Here is the picture of the elder I served with on exchanges. His name is Elder Hubbard.

Hey Family and Friends,

This past week has been great. We got Andromeda confirmed yesterday. That was a great experience. But anyways, Florida has been nice to me so far but I wouldn't call it winter anymore. For the past few days it has been in the range of 80 to 86 degrees. That is not winter weather but i cant do anything about that.

I had a zone meeting this past Wednesday. That was really great. I got to meet the rest of my zone and we all just had a great time. One of my friends from the MTC is in my zone. The rest of the week was just like any other week. We just went and visited people. But, yesterday was kinda cool. There is this fenced area that has many animals in it. Here are some of the pics that i took there.(be at the end of this email) But i will also include a pic of me holding something at a Less actives house(also at the end of this email). But anyways in one of the pics is me with zebras. The only thing keeping us from touching is a fence. That was a really cool experience. First time i have ever been that close to zebras. But there were some water buffalo, goats, emus, and a pig.

But anyways, This past week has been great and this weeks scripture is 3 Nephi 5:13. It is my most favorite one so far and is a really great one.

I love and miss each of you and write me when ever you can write. Love to hear from yall.

-Elder Simonson

Hey Family and Friends,

This past week has been one of the best. We did have a Baptism this past Saturday. The name of the person who got baptized is Andromeda Andres. She didn't get confirmed yesterday because her sister went into labor early that morning so she will be confirmed next Sunday. But anyways, I just want to say that i miss you all so much and that I will keep sending pics of stuff and will try to write back if you write to me.

Last Wednesday was probably one of the best District Meetings that I have had so far. We went out and had Subway. When we got there a guy being held down because he tried to rob the place next door(that's not the part that made it the best) but when the cops came by and took him we started to talk about how the guys on TV carry that heavy microphone around for shows. We all started to laugh so hard because we were wondering how they ran so fast in cop TV shows when they have to chase on foot and we started acting like them running around. You had to be there to understand better but that is one funny story so far on my mission.

Here is a pic from the baptism that happened 2 days ago.

from left to right its me Elder Simonson, Andromeda, Elder Grimmett, and Elder Murry(elder grimmetts past companion before me)

Love and Miss you ALL so much,

Elder Simonson

Monday December 31, 2012

Hello Family and Friends,

I am having a great time on my mission.  My first area is Hudson, Florida, and my companion is Elder Grimmitt.  He is from San Diego, and we get along great. On Christmas, I was able to Skype with my family!  I was happy to see my family even though I have only out for about a month. It was great to see you guys. I hope to get letters from the rest of my family and many friends. So far out of friends I have only heard from Brett Darcy. Tell Brett that I am proud of his choice and that he needs to keeping writing me. As for the rest of my friends at least write me, i just want to know how you are doing and what you have you done for fun since i left. I have been waiting for more letters from friends but I know that you guys are busy and dont have time to but whenever you do try to write me! Again I just want to know how things are going. LOL. Anyways tell Shae that I was very happy when I got her letter this past week. Tell her that I miss her so much and cant wait to see and text her again after my mission. So come on family, If Shae can write me SO CAN YOU! I hope to get more packages from others. Mom, Just to let you know that i will be sending my SD card tomorrow to you guys so you can have the pics you have been waiting for for about a month. So then you can post them on facebook so everyone can see. I did see my blog today. I like the way it is put together. Very nice. Great job DAD & MOM.
But anyways, We should be having a baptism this weekend!!!!! Super Excited if it does happen!!!!! Her name is Andromeda, and as long as she has been able to quit smoking, the baptism will happen!  I never thought I would have a baptism this soon!  We also have 4 other investigators who are getting close to baptism as well.
My first area is a car area, so I haven't even had a chance to ride my bike yet!  We also are in a house, just me and my companion.  I will send pictures of it so you all can see.
But again I love each and every single one you guys(family and friends). You have no idea how much I miss hanging out with all of yall. I cant wait until we get to hang out again. So far for funny stories is that for our district meetings, we made gingerbread houses and gingerbread men. Those were some funny times. I did take pics and they will be sent to my family and then they will post them on facebook. I hope everyone on facebook that is my friend is keeping up with my mission and i hope to hear from most of you that want to hear about how my mission is going. Again I love and miss all of yall so much, every single one of you and cant wait till we meet again.
This is something that  will stIart doing from now on when I email on p-days.  I will share my favorite Scripture from this last week. For this first one, it is in 2 Nephi 4:34 and it says " O Lord, I have trusted in thee, and I will trust in thee forever." i just wanted to share that first sentence. You can read the whole scripture but I just wanted to share that first sentence. It is very important to trust in the Lord forever. If we dont, then we will be lost. So I hope that all of my friends and family will trust in the lord forever.

Again i miss you all so much and cant wait to see yall again in 2 years time.

Love,
